Description
Regional Manager, Cafes is a key management position at Forecast Coffee. This position provides strategic leadership and direction to a team of Café Managers across Forecast locations in the Vancouver area and is tasked with delivering to a key set of financial and operational KPIs. Currently this role covers two cafes in Vancouver and West Vancouver with planned expansion to 5 cafes within 2 years.
This role exemplifies Forecast’s purpose and vision and acts with integrity to deliver on core company goals as a member of the Leadership Team.
Duties:
Cafe Operations
- Oversee and direct the general operations of Vancouver cafes.
- Provide direct support to Cafe Operations by directing Cafe Managers with a lead by example mindset and the ability to step in to operations in extreme circumstance such as Manager turnover.
- Set goals and budgets for Vancouver cafes, track weekly to targets.
- Perform quarterly reviews with Cafe Managers, Vancouver
- Continue to build an inclusive working environment
- Ensure training protocols are in place and followed for all new employees including onboarding, basic training, barista training and development plans in place for all
- Elevate operating standards across all Vancouver locations within the structure of TFW
- Customer service / hospitality
- Store aesthetics and cleanliness
- Signage, store branding and market up to date and relevant
- Improving customer throughput
- Monitor customer reviews and use as a tool to build a continuous improvement mindset at all cafés
- Build a deeper coffee focus to underpin cafe operations and elevate our standing in the Vancouver coffee community
- Work with Head of F&B to make sure food cost reduction processes are followed and rectified.

People, Training & Development
- Assess Cafe Manager role and training program and make recommendations for improvement
- Create development plans for all Cafe Managers under your remit (quarterly & annual)
- Work with Managers to set development and training plans for all team members
- Assess basic & barista training program – make recommendations for improvement
- Oversee rollout of improved training protocols with a focus on building industry leading program – big picture
- Lead coffee tastings and cuppings with team to elevate knowledge
Delivering Financial KPIs
- Deliver on all financial KPIs as set out in 2024 Budget
- Revenue
- Labour
- Food Cost
- Gross Margin
- Consolidate and improve accuracy on reporting Food Cost
- Spend time to learn Inventory Management software
- Identify gaps in current use and create fulsome plan for how to maximize system
- Assess current inventory process, streamline to make more efficient and accurate
- Revenue Growth
- Identify opportunities to improve revenue across Vancouver cafes. Engage Café Managers to take a leading role in bringing ideas forward for approval
- Support Café Managers with rollout of new initiatives to improve performance
- Perform regular profitability review to assess current menu and make recommendations for product mix.
Marketing & Branding
- Work with Marketing Manager to develop a strategy that supports all café revenue growth
- Act as intermediary between Café Managers and Marketing Manager to ensure both sides have all the information to execute strategy effectively.
- Review external marketing materials (eg. Event posters) to make sure they represent Forecast and follow Branding Guidelines
Cafe Expansion
- Be involved as a lead in cafe opening blueprint for opening of all future Cafes in your region.
- Assist with openings outside of your region where required.
- Working with full Cafe Ops team, develop future process to support continuing improvement of Forecast Cafe openings
- Create hiring and training plans for new locations in your region
- Give feedback to future cafe layouts
Requirements and Experience
- 5 years' experience in Cafe Management in a specialty coffee business
- 2 years' experience in multi-unit Management
- Expert knowledge of POS operating systems
- Extensive experience in working to KPIs and strategy for improvement
- Experience in delivering high-level training across all aspects of cafes
- A passion for and understanding of the Vancouver and beyond specialty coffee market
- Excellent technological and IT skills
- Valid Food Safe and Serving It Right certification
- Experience negotiating with vendors
Compensation
$78,000.00 - $85,000.00 per year
